In a working-class neighborhood of Mahdia, Tunisia, time passes at the pace of harvests and weddings. Fatma and her daughters, Najeh and Waffeh, are different from all the other women around. They swear, they smoke, and they stand up to men: they are “machtat”, wedding musicians.
